New Trier Fine Arts Association

New Trier Fine Arts Association was founded in 1976 as a non-profit organization through which parents and friends can support visual arts, dance, drama, speech and music at our high school.  Our board coordinates volunteer work, raises funds, and acts as an advocate for the arts.  All New Trier parents are members of the Association.  We welcome your support and invite you to attend our board meetings, held on the Winnetka Campus, on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. in room M180.

Have Questions?  Need Answers?

Are you or your children new to New Trier?  Are you a parent of an incoming freshman with questions about how to navigate the arts at New Trier?  Are you just a parent without a clue? Ask us, we hope to be able to help you.  We’re in the process of developing a FAQs column for this website and would like to know what you don’t know.  Email us at info@newtrierfinearts.org.  We’ll do our best to get you the information you need.

STUDENTS AND PARENTS!

What’s Happening this Month in the Arts at New Trier?

There is a lot going on in the arts at New Trier this February.  Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 at the Cornog Auditorium (Northfield campus) is the opening night of the Kinesis Dance Concert.  These shows are always terrific.  Further shows are on Friday night at 7:30 and a special Children’s Matinee at 2pm on Saturday, February 4. On Friday, Feb. 3, a photography exhibit entitled “Challenging Visions” opens at the Ann Brierly Gallery on the Winnetka campus.  The art work is by New Trier alum and former teacher and acclaimed photographer, Barbara Crane.  This show is not to be missed and was made possible in part by contributions by the NTFAA and New Trier Educational Foundation.  Saturday, Feb. 4, brings the 29th Annual Jazz Festival.  This year’s evening performance features Chicago Jazz Ensemble, with special guest star Nicolas Payton.  It begins at 7:30 in the Gaffney and tickets can be purchased at www.ntjazz.com.

On Thursday, Feb. 9, 7:00 is the Page to Stage performance put on by NT’s freshman theatre classes.  This year the show is in Winnetka’s McGee Theatre. The following Thursday, Feb. 16 brings the Wilmette Arts Guild Student Art ExhibitOpening and Gala Awards Celebration.  It will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Wilmette Recreation Center. On Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 in the McGee Theatre is the Choraliers Concert and on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 in Northfield’s Cornog Auditorium is the Wind Ensembles Concert.  Take your family to one or all of these activities.  What could be more worthwhile?  Enjoy! And prepare for a fantastic March—the choir-opera Beauty and the Beast, the frosh-soph play My Life in the Silents, art exhibits, concerts and more. New

NTFA Logo Needed! You could be the Winner!

Talented New Trier students are desperately needed!  Please help us out.  The NTFAA needs a new logo and it’s sponsoring a contest among New Trier students to design that logo.  Did you know the original Trevian Helmet was designed by a student? Your design could be chosen to represent New Trier Fine Arts for years to come.  Designs must be submitted by February 6, and the winner will be announced after March 13. If your design is chosen, you’ll not only be cool, you’ll get a $100 VISA gift card. Now get designing!  The important particulars of the contest can be found here. Check it out!

What’s Up with Australia 2012?

Please click here to visit the Australia 2012 web site if you are interested in parent volunteer opportunities associated with the Australia 2012 Tour by members of New Trier’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir.  Students will be engaging in a variety of fundraising events in advance of the trip—the help of any interested parent is always welcome. The tour plans to depart from Chicago on Friday, March 23, 2012 and return on Tuesday, April 3.  Help to make this a great trip for all concerned!
