Jon Gould: "How to Succeed in College (While Really Trying): A Professor's Inside Advice"
Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Room C234/Northfield Campus
Senior parents and students welcome!
New Trier alum and award-winning American University law professor and author Jon Gould shares practical tips, strategies, and tools for incoming college freshmen from the moment they arrive on campus. Many students will have the opportunity to listen to Jon's tips during Senior Institute Day, so this is parents' opportunity to hear and discuss the same message. Seniors who will miss Jon's talk on Institute Day are welcome to attend. Extensive Q&A.

NEW THIS YEAR! New Trier High School is now an annual sponsor of all FAN programs. Don't miss these other top researchers and thinkers: David Sheff on addiction (Feb. 5), Sheila Heen and Doug Stone of the Harvard Negotiation Project on receiving praise (March 11), Alice Waters on food (April 8), Hilary Levey Friedman on competition (April), Carol Dweck on mindsets (May 9), Temple Grandin on autism (Spring date TBD). Prepare to be amazed.

From the 2014 Class Chairs

From the Fall issue of the "Parents' Press"

Welcome to Senior Year!

Wow! Where has the time gone? Our students' days at the Northfield campus seem so long ago. What were once innocent, young freshmen are now the leaders of this great school. We are sure they are all thinking of graduation and beyond, but until then there is still a great senior year for them to enjoy and remember. Please visit our Class of 2014 web page on the NTPA website, at It will provide you with important dates, deadlines, information and links to almost everything you need to know. Through our web page you can volunteer to help with senior activities, of which there are plenty. You can volunteer to mentor a senior for Senior Project, help out at Winter Carnival (a senior class fundraiser), pass out yearbooks on Trevia Day, or help out with the graduation party. Speaking of graduation, we would like to welcome our two Graduation Party Co-chairs, Karen Sokal and Karen Kiersey, who are off and running already! Please think about volunteering for these and many other activities this year. Join us for the Parents' Association Annual Homecoming Tailgate.

Senior year is a special time for students and parents. It is busy and exciting. Communication between school and home is particularly important this year. Make sure we have your current email address. If your email has recently changed, please notify your student's adviser. We would like to thank the New Trier Parents' Association for all they do for our students. Without the generous support of New Trier parents like you, none of this would be possible. We wish Courtney Fitzgerald and Linda Ball the best of luck in their new positions as NTPA Co-Presidents. We look forward to seeing all of you throughout the year. Hurray for senior year!
