Two Down, Two To Go!

With course selection completed for our sophomores, they are now considered "rising juniors."   Two down, two to go!  But there's plenty of time to encourage your student to make the most of their high school experience by joining a new club, volunteering for a service organization or simply continuing to make new friends.

We hope you were able to join us in February for "Coffee and Conversation," which was well planned once again by Coffee Chairs Sylvia Creatura and Nancy Tierney.  Thank you to the Lorig family for hosting our group, and thank you to our special guests Sophomore Girls Adviser Chair Sharon Weiner and Boys Adviser Chair Scott Williams.  We appreciate their accessibility for our parents, their time spent with our class executive board and the guidance they have provided to our students.  We hope you can join us for our final Sophomore Parent Coffee of the year, on Tuesday, April 16, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Wallace family's home.  We extend our thanks to the Wallaces for their hospitality.

Also, thank you to Chaperone Chairs Peggy Cornog, Kelly Dondanville and Ruth Greenthal for rounding up much needed and appreciated chaperones for February's Turnabout Dance.

On Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24, the school coordinates two Sophomore Institute Days, providing students with a full day of meaningful service/learning projects.   Half the adviser sophomore rooms will participate on the first day, and the other half on the second day.  The day your student does not participate is a non-attendance day.  Students will work with agencies servicing the environment, homeless/hunger, youth, animals or the elderly. Parent volunteers are needed each morning from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.  Contact Julie Foley at kgslav@aol.com if you are interested in helping out.  Thanks, Julie, for your help!

Although it was a quiet year for our room reps, they continue to provide a critical link for the adviser rooms. We cannot do without them.  Busier days are ahead with the support needed during the more active junior year and "crescendo" of graduation senior year.  Thanks once again for your support of our school, our students and their parents.

We also extend special thanks to our dedicated board of stimulating, smart and caring ladies.   That includes our co-presidents, Ronna Gordon and Besty Helmer.   They have done an amazing job leading the NTPA this year.  Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Dohrer.  We will miss his unwavering support of our students and parents.  We wish him well.

All the best for a successful fourth quarter!

Brooke Conkey and Leslie Bond
