FAQ
Q: What do I need to bring with me from my country when I enroll at New Trier?
A: INFORMATION PARENT/GUARDIAN AND STUDENT(S) MUST BRING TO THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE OR MULTICULTURAL STUDIES OFFICE ARE:
Certified copy of the student’s birth certificate
Student’s social security number (if applicable)
Official transcripts from previous school, if possible
If necessary, proof of court appointed guardianship
Physical examination and immunization report (must be presented prior to first day of attendance)
Date moved in district
Mathematics is probably the most difficult course to identify placements for since the curriculum is different in many countries from that of the United States. It would be very helpful if you bring with you your:
Q: What information is required to show domicile residency in New Trier Township?
A: If you are a HOMEOWNER:
Sales contract/mortgage papers or most recent tax bill and cancelled check
AND
One or more of the following
Current homeowner’s insurance policy
Current vehicle registration
Mortgage coupon
Current vehicle insurance policy
If you are a RENTER:
Your current lease and two months of cancelled checks if available
AND
One or more of the following
Current renter’s insurance policy
Current vehicle registration
Current vehicle insurance policy
If you are unable to furnish the above documents, you will need to contact the Dean of Students.
Q: I know that New Trier is one school on two campuses—Northfield and Winnetka. If I am placed within the ESL program, what campus would I be located at?
A: The ESL program is based at the Winnetka campus for all students; however, students may be enrolled in specific course offerings at the Northfield campus, depending upon their academic needs. Shuttle bus service is provided between campuses on an on-going basis during the academic day.
Q: Are the students who are enrolled in the ESL program from a variety of countries?
A: At the present time, we have students who represent 16 different languages.
