IHSA State Swimming and Diving Meet Information

Sportsmanship

Good sportsmanship is the attitude and behavior that exemplifies positive support for the interscholastic programs of IHSA member schools, as well as for the individuals who participate in these programs. People involved in any facet of New Trier’s interscholastic programs are expected to demonstrate respect for others and display good sportsmanship.

Emphasizing and improving the sportsmanship of our students, athletes, parents, and staff is one of our highest priorities.

Each coach, student and parent has a role and responsibility to model and teach good sportsmanship.

IX. Tournament Policies

A. State Final Ticket Distribution Policy:

1) Ticket Sales for State Final Qualifiers: Schools with qualifiers in the State Final meet for both the able-bodied swimming and diving program and the events for students with physical/visual disabilities will be permitted to purchase two (2) Swim Events tickets per swim qualifier. These tickets are not available to the one (1) designated relay alternate. In addition, after meet management has determined the number of spectator tickets to be distributed to qualifiers, meet management will determine if extra spectator tickets are available. If so, then all schools that have qualified at least one individual for the state finals will be allowed to purchase two (2) additional Swim Event tickets. This number may be reduced to one (1) or to zero (0) if the number of qualifiers spectator's tickets approaches the maximum capacity of the swimming and diving venues. Monday-Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (will call not available) Thursday: 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.(during packet pick-up)

Diving
Tickets for the Diving Preliminaries ONLY will be on sale starting at 8:00 AM. The diving will begin at 9:00 AM. The Pool area will be cleared after the Diving Preliminaries are completed.

Swimming

All state swimming (not diving) qualifiers and alternates are allotted (2) tickets per participant. Arrangements for ticket purchase and pick-up are made through official representatives of the qualifiers’ school.  No other advance tickets will be available for sale on Friday to the general public.

There may be a limited number of tickets sold for Saturday for the finals. This will be determined around 1PM after ticket holders are let into the pool and the size of the crowd is established.

Parking Information

Parking will be permitted in the following areas:

Indian Hills Train Station

Elder Lane Park

Streets surrounding the school signed as "No Parking On School Days."  Friday is an Institute Day for New Trier High School therefore it is not a school day.

In cooperation with the Winnetka Police Department parking restrictions have been loosened, but vehicles blocking Fire Hydrants, Fire Zones, Handicapped parking, and residential driveways will be ticketed and towed.

This is a "residential area school" therefore; parking on campus is extremely limited.  New Trier High School strongly encourages Spectators to park in the train station lot at the corner of Green Bay Rd and Winnetka Ave.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Friday's Preliminaries

Spectators that require special assistance, please contact Randy Oberembt, Athletic Director, at 847 784-2226.

Spectator entrance is on Essex rd. up the stairs to our main gym on the east side of the building. Spectators will be allowed to enter the main gym beginning at 8 AM.

Once inside the main gym, Spectators will be REQUIRED TO CHECK COATS & LARGE BAGS. This is necessary to insure the maximum amount of spectator seating.

Once patrons enter the building, we do ask that they remain inside. We are in a residential neighborhood and the traffic flow in and out is a significant concern for our neighbors and for arriving guests. Once vehicle traffic enters the neighborhood, it significantly reduces congestion if it remains in place through the course of the meet. This supports the  request of local law enforcement and mirrors IHSA policy for other championship events. We will also provide concessions, souvenir sales, music, some entertainment and restrooms will be available. Patrons will be free to move about the gym.

Small folding stadium seats (no wider than one's backside) are permitted both in the gym and pool seating area. We do not have a provision to check chairs and therefore, we do not suggest that chairs be brought in to the building. We are able to securely check coats and other belongings and will ask patrons to do so.

Items that must be checked:

All Coats
All Backpacks
All Camera Bags larger than 12" long X 9" wide
Large Purses
All Coolers

NO BALLOONS OR FLOWERS WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE SEATING AREA.

Inside the gym, Fans will have the opportunity to purchase concessions and State Swim Meet programs while they wait for admission to the seating area at approximately 2:30PM.

The Meet will begin at 3:30 PM.
