  • Math Forum @ Drexel – A comprehensive website for teachers, students, parents and researchers.  Be sure to check out their Math Tools - a library of "interactive math tools that use such technology as Java, spreadsheets, dynamic geometry software, graphing calculators, and more! Users can search for the tools themselves, or related activities or lesson plans, save favorites, rate items, and read and participate in discussions linked to each resource" (Math Forum website).
  • Math World – A comprehensive and interactive mathematics encyclopedia with explanations, examples, references and animated graphics.  Be sure to check out the interactive 3D applets!
  • Math.com – A comprehensive website for students, teachers, and parents.  For Students: Get homework help, review concepts, look up formulas, get some study tips, play games and more.  For Teachers: Learn about Teaching Issues and Strategies, Mathematics Research and Reform, Social Issues and Public Policy, and get ideas for lessons and activities.
  • Cut the Knot – A comprehensive site containing many lesson ideas, games, etc. organized by different branches in mathematics.  Teachers can use the Interactive Activities to demonstrate concepts in the classroom while students can use these applets to explore and get a better understanding of concepts discussed in class.

b.  Interactive Teaching Tools (also see comprehensive websites above)

c.  Lessons and Activities

  • NCTM's Illuminations – Search for lessons or activities by grade or NCTM Standard.
  • NCTM's Student Math Notes – Must be member to sign in and view current and past lessons.  "Each issue develops a single mathematical theme or concept in such a way that fifth grade students can understand the first one or two pages and high school students will be challenged by the last page. The content and style of the notes are intended to interest students in the power and beauty of mathematics and to introduce teachers to some of the challenging areas of mathematics that are within the reach of their students." (NCTM website)
  • PBS Math Lessons – Real-world and Interdisciplinary lessons.
  • TeAchnology Lessons – Integrating Technology into math lessons.
  • Math in Daily Life – How do numbers affect everyday decisions?
  • Brain Pop – Watch fun and easy to understand math lessons.  Subscription needed.
  • SCORE mathematics – Projects written by teachers for K – 12 students that are directly linked to California State Standards and NCTM's Standards.
  • Math Central - Search for teaching resources, ask math questions, or submit a solution to the problem of the month on this University of Regina, Canada website for teachers and students.
  • The Gallery of Interactive Geometry - Lessons/Experiments from the Geometry Center.

d. Puzzles and Problems

  • Problems with a Point – "Problem sequences are designed to help your students develop both deep conceptual mathematical understandings and technical skills."  Search for problems by topic, habits of mind, mathematics background, technology or duration.
  • Pop Mathematics – A list of interesting math questions and topics including the mathematics involved in perspective drawings, the glossary of math mistakes, a proof that 99 = 100, comics, puzzles, games and more.
  • Figure This! – Find fun Real-world problems on this NCTM website for students, teachers and parents.
  • Interactive Mathematics Miscellany and Puzzles – a long list of puzzles organized by content including algebra, logic, calculus, fractals, probability, illusions and more.
  • Logic and Math Problems – problems range from basic math to differential equations and each problem has a series of stars next to it indicating level of difficulty.
