Crew Apprenticeship Program (CAP)

  • Requirement Guidelines for the 2021-22 school year

*Current Freshman students (Class of 2025)

All student performers must successfully participate in a Crew Apprentice Program (CAP) production either before or within one calendar year after being cast in a production for the first time.

Apprentice opportunities are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

*Current Sophomore students (Class of 2024 only):

Sophomore performers must successfully participate in a Crew Apprentice Program (CAP) production either before or within one calendar year after being cast in a production starting this year .

If you performed in a production as a Freshman you do NOT need to complete a CAP for that production.

However, once you are cast from August 2021 forward, you will have one full calendar year to complete your CAP requirement from that date.

     *Current Junior and Senior students:

All student performers are highly encouraged to participate in at least one stage crew and/or Crew Apprenticeship Program during their time at New Trier. However, due to the restraints of Covid during 2020-21 and currently, the CAP Requirement has been WAIVED for students in the Classes of 2022 and 2023 only.

WHAT IS THE CREW APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM?

All student performers must successfully participate in a Crew Apprentice Program (CAP) production either before or within one calendar year after being cast in a production for the first time. Apprentice opportunities are available on a first come, first served basis.

All CAP experiences average 30 sessions and include required build sessions (16) in addition to ALL load-in sessions (10) and ALL strike sessions (4) for one production. If a student does not complete a CAP within the appropriate time frame, they are not eligible to audition for subsequent productions. All students are welcome to be part of multiple stage crews but do not need to participate in the CAP program more than once in their four years at New Trier.
