This course immerses students in the exciting world of design where creativity meets communication. Projects may include designing brand identities and packaging, creating bold posters and illustrations, and experimenting with digital tools to craft visuals that inform, persuade, and inspire. Working with industry-level software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, students use XP-Pen tablets to draw, design, and refine their concepts. They also explore 3D world-building and digital illustration to imagine future possibilities in design and interactive media careers. By the end of the course, students gain the skills and confidence to communicate powerfully through visual design. Students will also explore AI literacy by examining how the embedded AI-generated tools in Adobe software influence creative workflows, decision-making, and ethical art practices. Students in Graphics and Design 2 and 3 continue to build their portfolios while being challenged appropriately through individualized instruction. Students may be required to purchase an art kit and related materials as needed. This course fulfills the graduation requirement for fine and/or practical arts.
