New Trier e-Learning Plan
When extreme weather or other circumstances prevent a safe opening of school, New Trier may use its e-learning plan to maintain the continuity of learning without having to adjust calendars or make up days at the end of the school year.
What is an e-Learning day?
An e-Learning Day is an official school attendance day with five hours of instruction or asynchronous assignments; however, students and teachers stay at home. Courses move forward as planned and student learning continues uninterrupted.
How will students, parents and staff find out about an e-Learning day?
If New Trier needs to call an e-Learning Day, students, staff, and parents will receive an email, text message, and/or phone call with instructions. For weather-related school closings, we communicate those decisions no later than 5 a.m. on the school day. You will only receive a message for a school closure/e-Learning Day; we do not send messages if school is open on a regular schedule.
What should students do?
Students should check Canvas for assignments and instructions from their teachers.
- Review and submit completed assignments by the end of the regular school day. This will count as your attendance as well.
- Contact your teacher if extenuating circumstances prevent you from submitting the assignment by the end of the day.
- Communicate with your teacher and adviser as needed.
