New Trier High Five Choir Alumni Reunion on May 21st

The New Trier High School Music & Theatre Department will present the High Five Choir Alumni Reunion at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, in the Winnetka Campus Gaffney Auditorium, 385 Winnetka Ave.

The one-night-only event celebrates 21 years of the High Five Choir, a unique ensemble that brings together students of all abilities from both general and special education populations. Through music and performance, the choir has fostered inclusion, built lasting friendships and helped challenge stereotypes surrounding individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Since its founding in 2005, the High Five Choir has become a cornerstone of the New Trier community, known for its message of unity and its powerful performances. The alumni reunion will invite past members to return to campus to reconnect, share memories and perform together once again.

Susan Vaughan, the founding choral music director of the High Five Choir, will retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year. The reunion concert will mark her final official performance at New Trier.

“It is a dream to bring back as many High Five Choir members and staff dating from 2005 to present day,” Vaughan said. “Whether you're ready to sing or just want to reconnect and cheer from the audience, your presence would mean the world.”

Alumni interested in participating are encouraged to RSVP using the New Trier High Five Choir Reunion Form at www.newtrier.k12.il.us/musicandtheatre. Additional details, including music selections and opportunities for involvement, will be shared following registration.

The only way to get involved in the choral program at New Trier is to register for Northfield Chorus. We think that if you sign up you'll meet a lot of new friends, and become a singer for life!
