Girls Tennis

Tryouts were the week of 8/11/25

Tryouts can extend through Saturday 8/16 and Monday 8/18 if needed.  Normally, most teams are picked by Thursday 8/14 except for the jv which can take thru Saturday.

In case of rain, stay flexible as tryout times can change.  Once tryouts are done practice starts immediately.  Team pictures are Saturday 8/23.

Teams are picked by playing matches against the other students trying out.  The format for matches is normally a super breaker to 10 pts. We do singles matches as well as dbls matches and follow the results.

Attitude, sportsmanship and work ethic can also enter into the decision-making process.

We actually keep close to a hundred girls in our nt girls tennis program, which is one of the largest girls hs tennis programs in the country but sometimes not enough to avoid cuts.

In October of 2024, the NT Girls Varsity completed a rare back-to-back state championship!  This had not been achieved for the girls’ program since the 1980s.

Our singles players at State were Freshman Ingrid Fiedler and Junior Ava Katz.  Ingrid finished first team all-state and Ava contributed many dramatic wins, finishing second team all-state.

In doubles, senior Coco Zabel and sophomore Julia Ludwig finished first team all-state.  In the other doubles, senior Keri Rothenberg and junior Ariane Lesterhuis backed up their 2023 doubles title with a back-to-back win, a once in a generation achievement for Trevian tennis.  

Reflecting on the season, Coach Jerry Morse Karzen commented, “What a great bunch of talented girls both on and off the court!”
