BACK TO BACK IHSA STATE CHAMPIONS!
2022 IHSA Boys Water Polo State Champs!

Program Information

New Trier Boys' Water Polo is an interscholastic program with the express purpose of developing players and representing New Trier with competitive teams in the Central Suburban League, in non-conference games and in the State Tournament.  Because it is an interscholastic program, a certain concern with winning is evident, and that concern becomes more evident as players reach the Varsity level.  All levels will emphasize the positive values of sportsmanship and character.  We want New Trier Boys Water Polo to feature teamwork, dedication, loyalty, intensity and a love for the game.  It is our hope that these traits will follow the athlete throughout his life.

Levels of play:

  • Varsity: The Varsity team will consist of those players, regardless of their year in school, who the coaches feel will be represent New Trier in interscholastic competition.  Selection is based on the talents and abilities of the players and their ability to contribute to the team.
  • JV:   The JV team will consist of those players, Freshman, Sophomore or Junior who the coaches evaluate to be the closest in ability and attitude to make a future contribution to the Varsity team.  The objective of this level is to prepare the athletes to play Varsity Water Polo.
  • Frosh/Soph:   The Frosh/Soph team will consist of those Freshman and Sophomores that the coaches feel show the potential to develop to the next level of competition.

We hope to promote competition on all levels.  Ability, development, along with a team attitude will help to govern playing time for all levels.

Be prepared to think of the team first.  Promise to learn the rules of the game, and do your best to hustle and play the game as it was meant to be played.  This will only make you a better athlete and us a better team.
