WELCOME RISING SOPHOMORES TO THE WINNETKA CAMPUS

New Trier High School is excited to invite you and your student to Welcome Rising Sophomores to the Winnetka Campus, an event for the Class of 2029. Please join us on Monday, January 12 for a special evening designed to prepare students and families for the transition to the Winnetka Campus.

OPEN HOUSE

5:30 P.M. - 6:15 P.M. - Outside the McGee Theatre

Parents and students have the opportunity to explore the Winnetka Campus and classrooms.

  • Meet with elective Department Chairs to ask questions about courses and programs Department Chairs will be stationed at tables on the first floor, outside the McGee Theatre.
  • Explore department spaces and classrooms to get familiar with the learning environment. A list of classrooms with room numbers will be available at tables outside the McGee Theatre.
  • Gather insights into how elective courses can enhance the sophomore-year experience.

PROGRAM

6:30 P.M. - Program - Gaffney Auditorium

Attendees will meet the Graduating Class Team members for the Class of 2028, learn about sophomore-year expectations, and hear from current Winnetka Campus students who will share helpful tips for making a smooth transition. 

Key aspects of the transition will be highlighted, including:

  • Adjusting to a Larger Campus: Tips on navigating the building, understanding schedules, and accessing resources.
  • Academic Readiness: Guidance on preparing for the increased academic demands of sophomore year, including independence, time management, and study habits.
  • Building Connections: Strategies for making new friends, joining extracurricular activities, and fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Accessing Support and Advocacy: Information about counseling services, academic support centers, and ways to connect with staff for assistance

Questions about courses and schedules should be addressed with your student’s adviser. Registration closes on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
