Trevs open season taking down the Dukes

After going up 3-0, York stormed back to make it 3-2, but Meg Gallagher made several incredible saves to hold off the Dukes, and a balanced and explosive attack led New Trier to a 17-6 win.

Riley Nolan scored her first career goal to get the Trevians on the board, followed by Nolan dishing to Matty Meier on a cut to the goal, then a free position goal by Ellie Bornhoeft. York started to control the draws and got several good looks, but Gallagher kept the Trevians in the lead.

Meier notched another goal, followed by a fast break goal by Avery Anderson and on the following draw, Bornhoeft raced down the field and hit Meier to go up 6-2 and New Trier never looked back.

Bornhoeft scored and then Holly Smith had a fast break goal off a draw control by Anderson and Nolan hit the back of the net to finish the scoring at half 9-3.

Tough defense led by Allie Trukenbrod, Madison Rewey, Veronica Smith, Frances Hatfield and Lily Rich helped run out a yellow card.

In the second half, Sonja Keneally, Logan Savarie and Celia Bacik all added to the scoring.

The draw team of Bornhoeft, Anderson, Smith, Megan Riley and Meg Canmann sparked several fast breaks and helped the Trevians control possession and tempo most of the game.

New Trier will travel to Washington DC to play three games over the weekend.
