Vision: To provide an environment for students to receive academic assistance and encouragement.

Hours: 8:50 AM to 3:30 PM

Location: Room 325

The Academic Assistance Center, or A.A.C., is a place where all Winnetka students can come during  school to receive academic support in the areas of English, Social Studies, Math and Modern and  Classical Languages.

Instructional Assistants and trained tutors in English, Social Studies, Math, and Modern and  Classical Languages are available in the AAC and committed to helping all New Trier students tackle academic challenges and strive for success by supporting classroom instruction.

We are a center where students can drop in throughout the day to:

• get support from subject-area experts on homework assignments
• obtain clarification of concepts
• get assistance in preparing for assessments
• receive constructive feedback on written assignments
• gain study tips and suggestions
• organize their backpacks using our “Organization Station”

The AAC is open first period - eighth period for students to drop in during a free period. Students 
must have an ID to enter. Teachers have access to the AAC visitor information.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Does a student have to be doing poorly in a class to go to the AAC?
Absolutely not! The AAC is where all students can ask questions, get help on homework, and/or get  clarification on concepts.

When can students go to the AAC? Do students have to make an appointment to get help in the AAC?
No appointment is needed. Students can drop in during their free period to receive assistance. The  AAC is not open before or after school.

Will the teachers know that students have gotten help in the AAC?
Yes. Teachers can access the data via Powerschool.
