Guided Study
Guided Study is a structured program designed to support students during the school day by providing dedicated time to complete homework, study, organize materials, and receive assistance with time management and work submission. The Guided Study instructional assistant helps students strengthen their academic and executive functioning skills, study habits, and self-advocacy. To be successful, students are expected to come to Guided Study prepared with their materials, ready to work, and willing to seek help when needed. The setting is intentionally smaller than a traditional study hall to allow for more individualized support.
Placement in Guided Study is determined through a Multi-Tiered Support Services (MTSS) meeting, which includes the adviser chair, MTSS coach, school psychologist, social worker, and the student’s adviser. Students benefit most from Guided Study when they are committed to learning and applying strategies to improve their academic success.
