ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

  • New Trier Township High School District 203 affirms its commitment to ensuring that people with disabilities have equal opportunity to participate in the district’s programs, benefits, and services, including those delivered through electronic and information technologies. We have designed the New Trier High School web site to be accessible to everyone. For purposes of this statement, the term "New Trier High School web site” does not include web sites, applications, or content not owned and controlled by New Trier Township High School District 203.

The web site was coded to comply with both the American with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.) and the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 US.C 794d), as amended. Along with state and federal law compliance, efforts have been made to ensure compatibility with common technologies used by the adaptive community such as screen magnification software, screen-reading software, and text-only browsers.

New Trier teaches ADA compliance to all staff with web publishing responsibilities and reviews all PDF for ADA readability.

    Acrobat PDF files

New Trier has a large number of documents in Adobe Acrobat® Portable Document Format (PDF). PDF format is used to preserve the content and layout of hard copy publications. Publications in PDF can only be viewed and printed using the Adobe Acrobat Reader®, version 3.0 or higher. The downloadable Acrobat Reader software is available at NO CHARGE from Adobe.

People using screen-reading devices generally are unable to read documents directly in PDF format unless they have an accessibility plug-in installed along with the Adobe Acrobat Reader. This plug-in is available at NO CHARGE from Adobe. Adobe also has online tools that will convert PDF files to HTML on request. To get the plug-in and latest news about Adobe's accessibility tools and services, visit the Access Adobe site.
