Trevs dominate draw circle in comeback win over Thomas Worthington

Down 6-2 after the first quarter, New Trier wins every draw in the second quarter and ties the game 6-6 at half, then goes on to win 13-11.

The Cardinals came out strong after the score was 3-2 to score three unanswered goals, all by Audrey Kahoun. Trailing 6-2, the Trevians came out in the second quarter and dominated the draw winning four in a row, allowing Ellie Bornhoeft to score on a fast break goal, and then Ratke assisted to Avery Anderson on a beautiful feed off a screen in the 8 meter, and then Ratke found Hana Asghari on a cut off the elbow, and finally Logan Savarie hit Ashgari on a feed to knot the game at 6-6 with 34 seconds left in the second quarter. New Trier's Meg Riley and Courtney Laden did an amazing job boxing out on the circle and getting some big draw controls. But the difference was Ellie Bornhoeft, who grabbed a career high 13 draws and also had 4 ground balls to lead the Trevians.

In the second half, New Trier's defense continued to stiffle the Cardinals, holding them to two goals, while the offense made it 12-8 behind Anderson's fast break goals and a nice crease roll by Sonja Kenneally and a pair of goals by Bornhoeft on a free position and 1v1 drive.

The Trevs controlled the ball most of the fourth quarter for the win against a very well coached and relentless Thomas Worthington team.

Anderson and Bornhoeft had four goals, Ratke had two goals and two assists. Ashgari finished with a pair of goals and an assist.

Meg Gallagher had six saves and the attack forced four turnovers on the ride, the highest amount of the season.
