Registration for the 2025-2026 Bus Service is OPEN
New Trier High School provides bus transportation services through Alltown Bus Service, Inc. If you would like to register your student for bus transportation for the 2025-2026 school year, please click Transportation. At this site you can register online with Discover, MasterCard or Visa. Prior to registering your child, please read the following information on our website.
The deadline for registering for bus service is Tuesday, July 8.
To best serve the needs of the district and families, bus routes will be developed after Tuesday, July 8, 2025, deadline. Please see below for more specific details:
- Routes are determined based on the locations of those who register.
- Any registration received after Tuesday, July 8 will be accepted only if space is available on existing routes.
- The routes will not be altered to accommodate late registrations, so your child will be placed at the bus stop nearest to your home (if space is available).
- If space is not available students will be placed on a wait list for the appropriate route. Bus requests will be processed in the order they were received from the waitlist. Please email lambertf@nths.net with your child's name and student ID number to be placed on the waitlist.
- Specific bus stop information will be emailed to families prior to the start of school.
- Student ID with bus information will be distributed to the students during the second week of school.

AM and PM Bus Routes
Routes and stops are subject to change. If any changes occur, an email notification will be sent to parents as soon as possible.
AM Northfield and Winnetka Bus Routes:
New Trier's morning bus routes pick- up students from ALL grade levels, stopping first at the Northfield Campus and then proceeding to the Winnetka Campus. However, depending on the specific route and the location of the final stop, some buses may stop at the Winnetka Campus first before proceeding to the Northfield Campus.
PM NORTHFIELD Bus Routes:
In the afternoon, buses depart from the Northfield Campus first, taking students directly home before continuing to the Winnetka Campus to pick up and transport those students’ home. Students at the Northfield Campus are dismissed at 3:10 p.m., and buses leave between 3:15 and 3:20 p.m. Afternoon bus routes are combined.
PM WINNETKA Bus Routes:
In the afternoon, after dropping off students from the Northfield Campus, buses proceed to the Winnetka Campus to pick up students and take them home. Students at the Winnetka Campus are dismissed at 3:30 p.m., and buses depart between 3:50 and 4:05 p.m. Afternoon bus routes are combined.
Late Activity Bus:
Late activity buses are available to students who have purchased a bus pass. You must have a full year-round trip, 1st semester or PM ONLY bus pass to ride the Late Activity Bus. Routes vary based on daily ridership and do not follow regular routes. The bus drivers route the late activity bus based on ridership.
As students board the bus, they must provide the bus driver with either their address or the cross streets of their regular bus stop. Riding times are dependent on the number of riders and can range from 15 minutes to an hour. The departure times below can vary.

Free Shuttle Buses
The District, through Alltown, operates a free daily shuttle bus service between campuses; a purchase of a bus pass is not needed to ride the shuttle. Students who walk or are dropped off at either campus can take the shuttle bus to the other campus.Click for the Shuttle Bus Schedule.

- Northfield pick-up/drop-off: On Happ Road near big flag pole
- Winnetka pick-up/drop-off: In front of Gaffney Auditorium on Winnetka Avenue

Transportation Refund Requests 2025-2026 School Year
Requests for refunds must be emailed to lambertf@nths.net with your student’s name and student ID number by the deadline indicated.
If you have purchased full year transportation:
- Last day to request a full refund (minus a $25 administrative Fee) – THURSDAY, July 17, 2025, at NOON
- Last day to request a 75% refund- Thursday, October 9, 2025
- Last day to request a 50% refund- Thursday, December 18, 2025
- No refunds will be issued after the Thursday, December 18, 2025
If you have purchased transportation service for the first semester:
- Last day to request a full refund (minus a $25 administrative Fee) – THURSDAY, July 17, 2025, at NOON
- Last day to request a 50% refund- Thursday, October 9, 2025
- No refunds will be issued after Thursday, October 9, 2025

Pace Transit Information

Pace’s regular mainline services will be running during the school year and no reductions in services are planned at this time. Please see PaceBus.com for more details and service schedule and to learn more about Pace. To stay informed about the latest updates on your route(s), please sign up for Pace's email/text alerts by clicking here .
The easiest way for students to utilize Pace is by purchasing a Ventra card, which costs $2.00. The Ventra card can be purchased at the webstore by clicking here. Ventra cards will be sent to your child’s advisor. Please select your child’s advisor in the dropdown menu. Lastly, New Trier High School does not have access to your Ventra card account, and you must register your Ventra online at ventrachicago.com or by calling 1.877.669.8368.

Union Pacific North Line
Student Reduced Fare Information for Grade School and High School Students
Full-time students enrolled in grade school or high school are eligible to purchase discounted Metra fares, including the following options: Reduced One-Way Ticket, Reduced Day Pass, Reduced Day Pass 5-Pack, Monthly Reduced Fare Pass. Please note: College students are not eligible for these reduced fares. Student fares are always in effect, regardless of the time or day.
When purchasing a ticket, students should use the Ventra app (download instructions below). A valid school ID that includes both the student’s name and the school’s name must be presented to the conductor along with the ticket. If no ID is shown, the student will be required to pay the full fare. Student tickets are non-transferable. For questions, contact Metra Passenger Services at 312-696-3872 or visit metra.com/fares.
How to Purchase a Student Reduced Fare via the Ventra App
- Download the Ventra App from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and tap "Buy Metra Tickets."
- Select your Metra line: Union Pacific North (UP-N) — this line serves the New Trier Winnetka Campus.
- Choose your departure and arrival stations. The closest Metra station to New Trier High School is Indian Hill
- Scroll to the "Reduced Fare Options" and select "Student Fares K-12."
- A dropdown menu will appear with ticket options. Select ticket option.
- Complete checkout and enjoy your ride!
