Trevs fall to Upper Arlington

The New Trier defense played well but the Trevs were unable to generate enough offense to take down the top ranked team in the Midwest, falling to Upper Arlington 12-3.

The Trevs came out strong, winning the draws and forcing turnovers, but never got rolling on attack. New Trier was down 1-0 halfway through the first quarter, and was slowing down a very talented Golden Bears offense. However, UA was able to convert and went on to lead 6-0 at half.

The Trevs started strong in the second half, led by Claire Ratke, who made two beautiful assists to Hana Ashgari and Courtney Laden to get the Trevs on the board 6-2. Ellie Bornhoeft did very well on the draw, but the Golden Bears answered back to make it 9-2 before Ratke hit Bornhoeft on a feed to make it 9-3. UA led 11-3 at the end of the third, and the Trevian defense held them to only one fourth quarter goal led by solid play by Meg Riley with two groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Several turnovers and missed opportunities hurt the Trevians against a very well coached and disciplined team.
