Despite a great defensive effort, Trevs lose to Ohio power Upper Arlington

In a match up of two of the top midwest teams, New Trier knew it would take a tremendous effort to defeat Ohio power Upper Arlington, and unfortunately the Trevs came up short, losing 7-5 to a very strong Golden Bears team.

After falling behind 3-0 after the first five minutes, the Trevians defense settled in and held a very talented Upper Arlington attack to one goal in the last 20 minutes of the half. Unfortunately, the offense missed several scoring opportunities, and it wasn't until Mia Shane was able to make a beautiful feed to Claire Ratke to get the Trevs on the board with 1:36 left in the half.

Trailing 4-1 at half, New Trier kept fighting, as Kennedy Meier and Audrey Rudolph each grabbed three draw controls, and senior captain Grace Curry stepped up with a draw control and three caused turnovers, including an interception on the ride to spark a comeback for the Trevs.

Trailing 4-1 at half, Addie Shevitz had a great drive to score and make it 4-2 with 24:08 left in the game. The Golden Bears responded to make it 5-2.  The Trevs kept battling, and Hana Asghari scored a great feed from Ratke to make it 5-3 at 19:54. But again, UA answered to make it 6-3 at 19:00. Grace Curry then scored to make it 6-4 with 18:21 left. It looked like the Trevs were on a comeback, when Ratke buried a free position shot to make it 6-5 at 17:28. Audrey Rudolph won the draw, but on the possession, the Trevs turned the ball over and Upper Arlington came down and scored to make it 7-5 with 14:28 left.

Both teams played tremendous defense to finish, and the Trevs weren't able to get rally a comeback. Kate Keller had a great game in goal with nine saves, while the defense, led by Lily Wallace, Anna Seftenberg, Grace Mawicke, Allie Trukenbrod and Brooke Ross did an impressive job keeping the Trevs in the game.

Grace Curry led the attack with two goals and assist.
