• This course introduces students to the field of interior design and the type of thinking, planning, and development of interior environments. Interior design students are engaged in studio work and authentic design challenges where decisions are made based on human needs, space conditions, and potential design opportunities.

    Students will be presented design projects similar to those presented on HGTV .

    Students will be challenged to create innovative design solutions for the following projects:

    • Bathroom Suite Redesign
    • Kitchen Redesign
    • Great Room Redesign
    • Cardboard Chair Design Challenge
    • DIY Furniture Restoration Project
    • Retail Store Design
    • Coffee Shop Design
    • Urban Condominium

    Students will also be introduced to the following CAD software: AutoCAD, Chief Architect, Revit

    Project emphasis is placed on design thinking, creative use of technologies, collaboration, and hands-on builds and designs. All work can be used for future portfolios.
