Trevs open up season with win over Lyons

The Trevians had nine different players score in their opening season win over Lyons Township 20-0.

Kennedy Meier won the opening draw and then scored on a free position shot on New Trier's first possession. The Trevs were turned away by a tough Lyons defense several times, but after a save by Lyons' Megan Perr, senior Grace Curry made a beautiful interception from the goalie and scored to make it 2-0 at 21:10.

Lyons defense continued to frustrate the Trevians as they were not able to score for the next seven minutes until Meier made a feed to Claire Ratke to make it 3-0.  The Trevs scored six goals in the next five minutes to pull away from Lyons.

New Trier won 17 of 22 draws to control the ball, and Meier led the team with six draw controls, and Courtney Laden had three.

The defense was led by Audrey Rudolph who had two caused turnovers, and Grace Mawicke and Brooke Ross, who each had big turnovers in the first half for the Trevians.

On attack, Grace Curry had seven points (5 goals, 2 assists), Meier had six points (3 goals, 3 assists), Addie Shevitz added three goals, Ratke had 2 goals and 2 assists, and Emma Curry and Hana Asghari each had 2 goals and an assist. Rudolph, Molly Martin and Courtney Laden all tallied goals.

Kate Keller and Elizabeth McLane combined for the shutout. Keller made two saves in the first half and McLane had three saves in the second half.

New Trier raised their overall record against Lyons to 7-0 all time.
