New Trier science teacher Hanna Cohen selected to Space Exploration Educator Crew

Space Exploration Educator Crew

Science teacher Hanna Cohen, who teaches chemistry and astronomy at New Trier’s Winnetka Campus, received some exciting news over winter break: she has been selected to participate in the Space Exploration Educator Crew next year.

Founded in 2017, the program was created by Space Center Houston to help meet a nationwide need to prepare students for STEM careers, and for extraordinary teachers to build leadership competencies and create innovative programs.

In addition to being awarded free national conference registration in 2023 and 2024, Cohen will team up with other similarly-honored astronomy teachers, or crew members, from the Midwest and nationally to collaborate on how best to impact student learning in space science.

“I believe New Trier students for years to come will benefit from Hanna’s proactive pursuit of this professional learning opportunity,” New Trier Science Department Chair Jason English said.
