ELS

  • The ELS Club was created to help our students with special needs during the school day. Students at New Trier volunteer a free period during the day to work with our special needs population. These helpers go to classrooms, gyms, jobs, eat lunch or to group work to aid teachers in working with the students. The ELS helpers/club members are asked to commit to their assignments. Assignments range from helping with math or reading, playing with them in their Kinetic Wellness class, helping them at their job or just hanging out. The helpers are treated as teaching assistants. The help needed varies and is decided upon by the teacher. This is a vital component to the learning process. Once a month, the ELS club organizes an after-school activity as well as holding holiday parties.
