Social Service Board

  • About Us

New Trier Social Service was founded in the early 1960s. It is the largest high school community service organization in the Chicago Metropolitan area, and also among the largest in the nation. Social Service allows students to volunteer 6 days a week at more than 15 different organizations in the Chicago area. Overseeing these groups is a 34-member board of dedicated student volunteers.

Volunteering is a New Trier tradition and is a wonderful opportunity for all students. While consistent group attendance is encouraged, Social Service is not a binding commitment.

Social service embodies the third part of New Trier's motto, "…To commit lives to the service of humanity." We believe service is more than simply writing a check. Service requires time and personal involvement. By getting involved in our program, you too can devote your life to service. We are looking forward to a great year and encourage everyone to volunteer.
