Digital Photography: Studio, Fashion, and Product

    0.5 MAJOR CREDIT AT LEVEL 9 / .25 ELECTIVE CREDIT

    In this one-semester course, students will create their own photographic portfolio with a focus on fashion photography and studio lighting portraiture. Students will be introduced to and engage in discussions about contemporary and historical figures in fashion and commercial portrait photography, and their uses in the commercial industry and the world of fine art. Students will learn to work within a collaborative studio environment with professional, industry-standard lighting equipment, cameras, and Adobe editing software. Project-based learning will take place in the lighting studio and in environmental locations with off-camera lighting. Students will take away life-long skills and professional practices to pursue a career in photography. Students may be required to purchase a photo kit. This course may be repeated to create a year-long experience or paired with another semester class. This course fulfills one semester of the graduation requirement for fine and/or practical arts.
