• Philosophy

    The New Trier Special Education Department recognizes that each student learns in a unique way.  As such, we provide a full continuum of services to students who have been found eligible for special education. The Special Education Department is committed to providing a supportive environment in which our students can develop academic, social, emotional, vocational, and life skills. Our goal is for all students to become self-aware, self-advocating and independent learners. In addition, the school works in partnership with Northern Suburban Special Ed District NSSED. This partnership allows New Trier to take advantage of educational opportunities and services for students, staff, and families.


      • ISBE Parent Involvement Survey

        You should have received a postcard in the mail sent by The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) asking you to participate in a Parent Involvement Survey. The intent of this survey is to determine how well schools throughout the state are involving parents in their children’s education. The survey results are a required component of ISBE’s Annual Performance Report (APR) to the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). More importantly, New Trier will be receiving the results of this survey and uses this information to reflect upon and improve our processes and practices.
